- An outstanding woman
|
The Noble Price for peace in 1991, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been
put under arrest again by the Burmese government who terrorizes
the country. This woman follows her goal with determination.
|
-
- Nothing can stop her: neither arrests, nor the years past
under house arrest, nor harassments and humiliations. Permitted
to visit her husband who was dying from cancer in London, she
refused, knowing she will never be allowed back in Burma. Endlessly,
with an astonishing freedom of speech, she has denounced the
dictatorship that has confiscated the elections and has derided
democracy. An injustice done to the people.
-
|
Curiously this woman looking fragile, empty-handed and with
a gentile face, has scared the military junta. She never called
for violence. It was strange that these generals in power could
not stand a so popular non-violent resistance. They had to keep
her quiet at the expense of the people who love her so much. |
-
- Dictators know only repression. They deport people, decide
forced labor including children, they fire on people, killing
dozens of them.
-
- The international community has reacted quickly, blaming
these dictators who turn their back to democracy and civil rights.
Aung San Suu Kyi has to be given freedom to prepare the future
of this country that has become a huge prison with invisible
bars.
