The sun has a rendez-vous with the moon The total eclipse on August 11 is an exciting event, both scary and wonderful. Catastrophes are announced in Paris and I am advised to be out of the City that day! This total eclipse, a Galaxy event, will not happened again before 2081, but what about the other billion of Galaxies at billion of light years in distance? The light of the sun, a star among billion of stars, takes only 6 minutes to travel to us. Scientific progress has changed the way we look upon the Universe and the way we see human beings. We are no longer at the center of the world, no more reason to boost ourselves, our power is an illusion. More humble, we recognize more clearly our position in the tremendous cosmic evolution. Human beings have a long history, we are related with the whole Universe. Every thing is a part of a whole, including human beings. We understand better how we depend upon the other living beings. We are called upon to live in harmony with stars, plants, animals. We are from planet Earth and sons of the Cosmos. Saint Francis, the little poor from Assisi, did not have all the knowledge of today but he nevertheless found his place into the Creation where all things are related. He did not put himself above all creatures. With a generous heart, he put himself "with", understanding that human brotherhood should be extended to a cosmic brotherhood. By putting back human being into the Universe he was becoming himself an universal brother.

In January 1995 Jacques Gaillot abruptly received his resignation from his office at Evreux. In a rather surrealist way, this eviction was transformed in an appointment at an ancient and fictitious see, Partenia in Algeria. This made him a kind of virtual Bishop of which his potential parishioners were spread all over the planet... A year later, he decided to take the institution at its word, he opened a web site to dialogue with every body in the world. It was immediately successful: thousands of Internet users from all over France, Canada, Australia and dozens of countries, laymen or clerics, Christians or non Christians, for or against, conversed on many various subjects. This book accounts for the site of Partenia 2000 as an extraordinary way of exchanging, it is an indication of the Church to be in which the geographic divisions of the dioceses, inherited from the Middle Age, do not mean much. Assembled by Philippe Huet and Elizabeth Cocquart, Jacques Gaillot presents messages about exclusion, racism, death penalty and many other passionate matters. Dreaming of a Church in harmony with the evolution of the world, evocation of revolts and hopes of a whole generation, this collection of testimonies, faithfully received by the Bishop, opens a "pastorale" of a totally original kind. | |||
