The sermon on the mount

Who is not moved by the Beatitudes?

"Blessed are the poor in spirit...Blessed are the meek..."

It is like a music the melodies of which seep through the heart :

Blessed are those who weep...Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness..."

It is a gentle voice that whispers happiness to our heart :

"Blessed are the merciful...Blessed are the pure in heart..."

It is an open horizon which sheds light into our eyes :

"Blessed are the peacemakers... Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake..."

When you practice only one of these blessings, the best in you shines forth.

When you take the risk of living according to the Beatitudes, you lose all your defences, and you show yourself frail in the daily life struggles.

Those who lay hold of the sermon on the mount are fragile beings who try to overcome their fears when they are put to the test, always keeping in mind the others.

In a world where loneliness and stone hearts are the rule, they show compassion by setting love above all. For them, the only curse is to have an unloving heart.
